Just opposite the western entrance to the U Bein Bridge, this gigantic and sprawling monastery is inhabited by more than 1,500 monks. You will certainly be offered to go there in the morning around 10:15 am when the monks come out for lunch. Hordes of crimson robes, certainly, but also hordes of agglutinated tourists waiting for the monks to pass by, like at the finish of the Tour de France. They absolutely want to slip them some offerings. If you really want to go there, go to the monastery once the tourists leave as they came, en masse.
