The Hsinmayashin Pagoda, which houses relics from Sri Lanka, was built in the 15th century, more precisely by King Monhyin of Ava in 1429. Damaged by the earthquake of 1485, it was restored by Minkhaung II and unfortunately devastated again by the earthquake of 1955. Since then, it is still waiting to be rebuilt... It is also called the "elephant pagoda", so called because of the two statues of pachyderms that frame the entrance to the site, instead of the traditional lions that are usually seen.
