We come to this silver pagoda to discover a recent construction, make no mistake about it. U Nu took on the task of building it in the last century, in 1959, following the example of the greats of this world who wish to leave a mark for posterity. For example, we can see a footprint of Buddha. And, when the pagoda opens its doors wide for festivals, relics of Buddha's teeth can be seen, which is generally not, however, of major interest to a non-practising Buddhist.
