DHAMMAYANZIKA
With original architecture, on the site of Bagan. The Dhammayanzika pagoda was built by Narapatitsithu in 1196. Its base is pentagonal with a vaulted reliquary on each side. The corridor, also pentagonal, is pierced by five passages. The three lower terraces are decorated with jataka. Note the sandstone sculptures, typically Burmese, and characteristic of Bagan of this period, accompanied by legends, pale for the name of the scene represented, and in Burmese indicating the state of existence of the Bodhisattva.
