BUPAYA PAGODE
The Bupaya Pagoda dates from the 7th and 8th centuries. Together with Ngukywenadaung, it is the only building that predates Anawratha. It was rebuilt after the 1975 earthquake. It is especially the site that deserves a visit: Overlooking the Ayeyarwady. The pier below and the cafes and restaurants are an ideal place for a stopover before leaving for other more isolated temples. The Burmese come here in large numbers, a must for pilgrims and tourists from the rest of the country. On feast days, it is the rush, for the happiness of amateur photographers!
