In 1475, the king sent a delegation of monks to Ceylon. The goal: to convert the Burmese Buddhist community. There, the monks were ordained for the second time and brought sand from the Kalyani River from their journey to consecrate the site on which Burma's first ordination hall, Kalyani Sima, was to be built. It was rebuilt in 1954, after being devastated by the 1930 earthquake. The account of his consecration was recorded in 1476, by order of Dhammazedi, on the ten large stone tablets west of Sima.
