On the banks of the Irrawaddy River throne, proud and entirely covered in gold, the Lawkananda Pagoda. This monument was built in 1059 during the reign of the famous King Anawrhata. In the early 2000s, a crown of jewels was placed at the top of the zedi. It is one of the great projects of the junta to give itself credit when it ruled the country. The pagoda is beautiful and worth visiting in the evening when all the students and families gather there. Especially when the sun comes gently to illuminate its golden façade.
