ASSOCIATION CALÉDONIENNE D'ASTRONOMIE
When traveling or on holiday in New Caledonia, it is time to contact the Caledonian Association of Astronomy to participate, together with its members, at the public observing evenings. These evenings usually take place in the commune of La Foa (about 90 km from Nouméa, northward), on various sites, in the village of Oua Tom (a few kilometers south of La Foa), or in the beautiful Parc des Grands Fougères further north. In recent years, new equipment has come to enrich the existing association: a 600 mm diameter telescope to offer unprecedented images - spectacular! - from the southern sky. Depending on weather conditions, it is possible to take full view with the advice and explanations provided by local facilitators.
