Opened in 1971, the Museum of New Caledonia is entirely devoted to Oceanian and Melanesian traditions. The first floor is dedicated to the Kanaks and one can discover sculptures of the Grande Case. Puzzles made of gaïac wood, totems and masks are also on display. The mezzanine is generally turned towards the South Pacific and covers, for example, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, etc.

Très belle collection bien présentée et mise en valeur. Explications claires et utiles pour comprendre les objets présentés et les peuples qui en sont à l'origine. Une visite qui s'impose pour approcher la culture kanak et plus globalement le monde mélanésien et océanien.

De très belles pièces de collection sur l'art mélanésien, non seulement en Nouvelle Calédonie mais aussi au Vanuatu, aux îles Salomon et en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée. L'endroit ne paye pas de mine mais mérite le détour (juste à côté du marché de Nouméa)

Musée intéressant sur la culture kanak , pas mal conçu, avec visite d'une case mélanésienne.
Very badly received you had the feeling to disturb... fortunately exhibition was a little close interesting... a smile and friendly it is not very complicated...
