GOA MA BWARHAT CULTURAL CENTRE
The Centre, opened in 1984 by Jean-Marie Tjibaou, evokes the two great chiefdoms of Hienghène (sea and land) and aims to promote the Kanak culture with the exposure of traditional parts and objects (arms, pottery, vanneries, currency, etc.). The Cultural Centre has been closed to the public since July 2011 due to works of extension and renovation, but the village of craftsmen, the snack, and the two large traditional squares remain open in the week. Boxes and a faré, intended to host artists, are also available for concerts and entertainment that are regularly organized there.
