This military fort, built from 1864 by marine troops, was used until 1916. And the least we can say is that this building has been the scene of many historical events. In addition to the many (and obvious) military exercises as a place for soldiers to live, it was the setting and HQ of a religious Mission, but also, the first mixed marriage between a European and a Melanesian woman in 1870. Today, the building is unfortunately in ruins, but it is possible to visit it by requesting the Information Point

nous avons du demander 10 fois notre route pour pouvoir le trouver ... en fait il faut rentrer dans un petit chemin de foret puis continuer à pied ou en voiture a monter
en zigzag (nous nous n'avions pas oser le faire avec notre petite voiture de location donc à pied 15 minutes...)
nous sommes alors arrivé devant quelques ruines et une maison bloquant l’accès aux autres ruines mais sans personne dans la maison !!! nous avons donc rebroussé chemin
Donc Attention car c'est très mal indiqué et pas grand chose a voir !
