The airport is about 13 km east of the Intercontinental. To get there, you have two options: bus or cab (or Aventon, Nicaragua's VTC). The bus is not very safe if you're burdened with luggage, otherwise there's no problem: just cross the avenue in front of the airport and wait at the entrance to the Mercedes hotel. As for cabs, those waiting outside the airport are generally half the price of airport cabs (US$10-15).
