A miracle worker, so to speak. Built shortly before 1931 and destroyed by the first earthquake, it was only inaugurated in 1938 to celebrate the city's 100th anniversary (Managua was elevated to this status in 1838). In 1972, it was badly hit by the second earthquake of the century. Since then, after much hesitation, it has been restored. The Cathedral was designed by Belgian architects, inspired by the church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris.
