Built between 1624 and 1626 by Fray Benito de Baltodano. Situated at the entrance to the city from the port, its location was strategic in the days of the colony; indeed, it was a perpetual prey to the greed of pirates and freebooters. In November 1856, Walker's troops were besieged for 18 days by Nicaraguan government troops. The mercenary made no bones about it, setting fire to the whole complex. The church was restored in 1945, but with no real concern for history. Come in the morning, when the sun colors the façade.

Plus modeste que l'église Mercedes mais dans le même état extérieur. Problème récurrent au Nicaragua, la conservation et l'entretien des monuments qui font défaut.
