This former hospital was inaugurated in 1905. After having been a major health care facility in the region, it was eventually abandoned after the war, when Japan donated money to build the new public hospital "Le Japonais". Like many historic buildings in Granada and Nicaragua, it is not very well maintained or renovated, and is gradually falling into disrepair... but this gives it a certain charm, and allows nature to gradually reclaim its rights.
