Founded in 1994, the Museo de Ometepe in Altagracia is dedicated to local archaeology, ethnography and ecology. More than 1,700 petroglyphs have been recorded on the island, and Ometepe is a Mecca of pre-Columbian civilization. In the museum, you can see pottery, gold and metal objects, and learn a great deal about pre-Columbian culture and rituals. The guide is very erudite and will be delighted to share his wealth of knowledge with you. An interesting visit.
