The San Juan malecón is a pleasant place for a stroll along the seafront. To celebrate the 150-year historic relationship between the American writer, navigator and poet and the greatest exponent of literary modernism, a monument to Mark Twain and Rubén Darío now lights up the promenade! It measures around 1.70 m high and 2 m wide. Mark Twain landed on the shores of San Juan del Sur in 1866, while Rubén Darío was born in the same year.
