AMIGOS DE LA TIERRA
Los Guatuzos, located in the town of Los Guatuzos in Nicaragua, is an ecological center offering sustainable tourism. This project, initiated by the Amigos de la Tierra association, has become fully autonomous after 15 years of cooperation. As well as being a center for ecological tourism, it promotes environmental and scientific education through exhibitions and training courses for the local population. Located in the Río San Juan Biosphere Reserve, Los Guatuzos offers an exceptional natural setting with high biodiversity. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities including hikes, suspension bridges, boat trips and night visits to observe animals such as sloths and toucans. The Los Guatuzos area is world-renowned and was the first site in Nicaragua to be classified as a RAMSAR site, due to its international interest as a wetland.
