CATEDRAL DE SANTA ANA
A majestic Gothic cathedral built between 1906 and 1913, combining different styles and eras.
Declared a National Monument in 1995, Santa Ana Cathedral began construction between 1906 and 1913, but was not completed until 1959. Built in the Gothic style, its architecture is totally original and stands in stark contrast to the rest of the Spanish colonial-style cathedrals that are widespread in El Salvador and throughout Central America. The main nave is 22 metres high. Majestic and impressive, it forms a unique architectural zone with the Santa Ana Theatre and the Town Hall (Alcadia), combining different styles and periods.
