ARCO DURÁN
This arch is an important centenary monument donated by Onofre Aguilar to separate the rural from the urban areas of Ahuachapán
The Durán Arch is one of the most important monuments for the Ahuachapanecos. This century-old structure has been declared a "cultural asset protected by the 1954 Hague Convention". The arch was donated to the city by Onofre Aguilar, and was previously used to separate Ahuachapán's rural and urban areas. The arch consists of three parts: the central one is almost twice as high as the lateral sections. Take the time to admire it while you're in town, as it's well worth the detour.
