IGLESIA SANTA LUCÍA
Church featuring a black Christ sculpted by Cataño in 1580, superb Italian marble and powerful, sonorous bells.
The Santa Lucía church houses a black Christ also known as Our Lord of Juayúa (like the one in Esquipulas, Guatemala), sculpted by Quirio Cataño in 1580, as well as superb Italian marble and powerful, sonorous bells. Its attractive white façade is adorned with red brick arches. It overlooks Juayua's central square, a pleasant place to take a break, and where locals meet up with friends. If you come at the weekend during the gastronomic festival, you'll find the food stalls right next door.
