Located near the town of San Miguel, the Chaparrastique volcano (2,132 meters), also known as the San Miguel volcano, is an active volcano that erupts regularly. The most recent ones: 2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, fortunately without causing any damage to the surrounding area. It is possible to hike up to its crater. We advise you to take a guide if you want to attempt the climb, as it's not the most frequented volcano and the paths are not always very clear. The round trip takes several hours.
