IGLESIA DE EL MOZOTE

At the heart of the village is the church of El Mozote: destroyed in 1981 during the civil war, it was rebuilt in 1996. Its garden is called the "Garden of the Innocent Children" in memory of the El Mozote massacre. The names of the massacred children are engraved on one of the building's facades. Every year, between December 11 and 13, cultural and religious activities are organized by the church and the village in memory of the victims. The aim is also to promote peace and reconciliation in the country.
