COOPERATIVA LA SEMILLA DE DIOS

Founded in August 1977 by the painter Fernando Llort, La Semilla de Dios cooperative's main objective is to be a source of income by creating work for all those who are part of the cooperative. The majority of these families depend on the work provided by the cooperative and its sales. Everything is created, crafted (carpentry) and hand-painted by the inhabitants of La Palma, who have been trained in Fernando Llort's artistic techniques. Beyond the financial aspect, the cooperative aims to be a cultural reference, promoting Fernando Llort's art and Salvadoran creativity worldwide. The handicrafts represent moments in the life of La Palma, as well as religious symbols. Their main purpose is decorative and educational. The cooperative exports its handcrafted products, furniture and engraved and painted objects - such as crosses, boxes and Christmas decorations - to Canada, the United States, Guatemala and Europe (Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom). To meet its wood needs, the cooperative owns a plot of land outside the village, where they plant and cultivate trees in an eco-responsible manner: these trees then account for 40% of the wood used for the creations.
