CONTINENTAL AIRLINES
The online tourist guide presents Toncontín International Airport, located 6 km from the center of Tegucigalpa. This airport is both civilian and military. It was ranked as the second most extreme airport in the world by History Channel's Most Extreme Airports program. The runway was extended in 2010 to allow heavier aircraft to take off. The approach to the airport is considered one of the most difficult in the world, particularly in bad weather. The airport was first used in 1921, and construction of the passenger terminal was completed in 1934. In the 1980s, international flights were transferred to San Pedro de Sula airport, offering better landing and take-off facilities. The runway was renovated in 2006. Today, the airport is managed by the international company Interairports, S.A.
