BASÍLICA DE SUYAPA

Admire the sheer size of the building, built in 1958, which is a little empty inside; beautiful stained-glass windows, unfortunately protected by railings to prevent stones being thrown. This is the largest Catholic church in the country. A major pilgrimage during the first week of February to admire a statue of the Virgin Mary only 6 cm high! Legend has it that the Good Mother doesn't much like the massive basilica, preferring the little chapel at the back, built in 1749. And indeed, apart from the festivities at the beginning of February, this is where you can admire her.
