At an altitude of 1,327 metres, a 32-metre-high statue of Christ stands atop Mount Picacho. From up there, you can enjoy a superb panoramic view of the city. It's easy to understand Tegucigalpa's strange geographical location: it's not a valley but a "hole", the hills having been levelled in the ephemeral quest for money. The statue of Christ is the work of Honduran sculptor Mario Zamora Alcántara and was unveiled in 1997. The surrounding park is pleasant, and there are restaurants where you can eat and enjoy the view.
