PATHES
Allow a full day for your visit to Tigra Park, including transportation to and from the park, hikes and short breaks for lunch or rest. And before you set off, don't forget to pick up a map at the park entrance. The various paths you can take are well signposted and in good condition, unless it has rained heavily in the preceding days (in which case it's best to postpone your visit until a drier day). The park is well maintained.
A main trail (gravel) crosses the park from one entrance to the other, passing the highest point at Rancho Quemado (2,185 m). This 6 km trail can be covered quickly (1 hour 30 to 2 hours), but it would be a pity to be satisfied with it.
The Bosque Nublado trail climbs or descends throughout, as you wish. The La Cascada trail is the most difficult, but the reward is at the end (no swimming, mind you). We really like the La Esperanza trail! As for the Los Plancitos trail, it's the longest at 6.5 km: less than 2 hours if you walk at a good pace, more if you pay attention to everything around you.
We advise you to take the La Esperanza trail, then return to the main trail before taking the Bosque Nublado trail: allow 2-3 hours' walking time, around the entrance to El Hatillo. If you have time to reach the waterfall, it's even better. Count on 3 to 4 hours. More if you're a botanist!
