Quite different from the spectacle offered by the port, the Garifuna villages of Travesía and Bajamar are famous for their groups of dancers and their relaxed, slightly slouchy atmosphere. To get there, take one of the three to five buses a day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., near the Citul terminal (allow 20 min for the journey). You can also get there by cab. You can stay at the Hotel Victoria (approx. US$15) or the Hotel Fontera del Caribe (approx. US$20), both of which are very pleasant.
