FUNDACION CUERO Y SALADO (FUCSA)

This organization protects the environment of the Scots life reserve Cuero y Salado. You must ask them for a permit to win this superb place (at least if you do it by your own means). A visitor centre has been built (it is nice) and you can camp or sleep in dormitories. It is recommended to bring food, even if it is possible to find premises that will prepare a good fish. Access is not easy… and very picturesque. In fact, this is one of the most unusual trips that can be made in Central America! Explain why. You must first win the village of La Unión from La Ceiba (departures every hour from 6 am to 15 pm… last return to 15 pm, so visit early in the morning). We go down to the track. Here you can take a surprising trip aboard a completely insane train that evokes Tintin in the Congo! It is surreal to walk in a wild (and very poor) landscape while the driver is running a ring of another time! As much warn you: The guy who has the burden of this broken convoy (one car finally… a single trolley) can take a lot of time, and many tourists grieve because they have to wait one and a half hour in La Unión (and sometimes in the rain!). So, take your pain in patience, and think that you're experiencing an out-of-standard adventure. Contacting an agency does not always change things: here the time does not really count. nevertheless, Fucsa should ensure a reliable and punctual service. See! Note that it is also possible to go to a burra, a real trolley mounted on the rails: the premises will propose it to you at similar rates; the necessary work (evoking ancestral slave times in mines and in the fields) is so important that many travellers are reluctant to be transported like pashas (how to speak: it's just a few planks!). The adventure, which has already begun, can finally continue on the waters of the magnificent reserve… Despite a fairly high cost, this excursion remains etched in your memories (unusual character of the journey and beauty of the landscapes crossed). If it rains, do not grunt: time can be discovered at any time and then… it's life!
