This old market in central Warsaw consists of two buildings constructed in the late 19th century that miraculously survived the war. The Nazis used to execute civilians here. The premises became a warehouse, then a sports hall. After reconstruction in 1950-60, Hala Mirowska once again became a market. It sells the capital's best food products: fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, eggs... which you can buy either on the benches or from the grannies who display their wares directly on the floor.
