Built in the 19th century according to the project of the Italian architect Antonio Corazzi, this theater, one of the largest in Europe, has an opera hall with nearly 2,000 seats. During the siege of Warsaw in 1939, it was bombed and burned almost entirely. Only the façade survived. There is a small museum dedicated to it, which also explores the entire history of theater in Poland. You can even visit it before a performance if you plan to go to the theater.

Very pretty exterior and interior, the ticket prices are divided in 2 to see into 3 compared to the price that can be found here.

We have to watch an opera in the Wielki Theater. A beautiful production and very good value for money (the places are 2 times cheaper than in the rest of Europe). The building is pretty outside, but the interior decoration is a bit Spartan certainly (due to the total destruction of the city during the war reconstruction then under the communist era).
