KAMPINOS NATIONAL PARK (KAMPINOSKI PARK NARODOWY)
Go there and contact
Some 30 km west of Warsaw stretches a large forest, Poland's largest national park, surprisingly close to the capital (it starts directly after the suburbs). It is a popular place to hike from the Varsoviens to the beautiful season. Rich in fauna and flora typical of the forests of north-eastern Europe (elk, lynx, wild boar, conifers and marshy plants), it was a humid environment that was once covered by the Vistula waters. A beautiful ecosystem easily accessible from Warsaw.
Leszno, and Kampinos 12 km north, are located in the park. One can, for example, randonner from one village to another. There are several other proposed and marked circuits. The centre of the park is located in Granica, 5 km north of Kampinos, with a museum on the fauna and flora of the park. So, if you have good legs and if you get up early, take a complete route from Leszno, go to Kampinos, take a detour to Granica and take the bus back to Kampinos.
You can reach the villages of Kampinos or Leszno by bus from Warsaw station Zachodnia (west), frequent until the end of the day in both directions. Check back times before you leave, although you can return by taxi to the capital. The two villages are on the road to Baptized Wola, if you are motorized, you can easily combine the two excursions.
