This museum, once rather outdated and unanalytical, has been modernized over the years, offering a rather uneven set of exhibits that nevertheless give an idea of the city's history, from its foundation by the Vikings to its destruction after the war. Some of the rooms reflect on the significance of ruins and the passage of time through photos and archaeological artefacts, while others are historical reconstructions that transport visitors into the past they describe.
