Built in the 14th century in the North German brick Gothic style so characteristic of the region, this imposing cliff-top cathedral is surrounded by ramparts. The Baroque interior is famous for its fine organs (1684), renowned for their sonority. In summer, magnificent organ concerts are held on Sundays. The church contains 101 funeral plaques and 19 epitaphs. Among the latter is that erected in memory of Copernicus, whose remains lie somewhere in the cathedral, the exact location unknown.
