Built of brick in the 14th century, this fortress miraculously escaped the Second World War. The large Gothic portal leads to an inner courtyard, surrounded by an arcaded gallery. The upper floors of the fortress house the Museum of Warmia(Muzeum Warmińskie), a succession of rooms with Gothic vaults displaying period furniture and curios. The second and third floors feature Polish paintings and a collection of Russian icons.
