SANCTUAIRE DE NOTRE-DAME
The birth of this place stems from a miraculous legend. A condemned man, inspired by an apparition of the Virgin Mary, carved his statue in a tree trunk, thus obtaining her pardon. Placed under a lime tree, miracles would be performed. In the 17th century, the Jesuits built a church, which became a Baroque monastery in the 18th century. Local talent contributed in the form of sculptures, paintings and woodwork. Now open to visitors, the site shines with flamboyant Baroque art. Pilgrimages and organ concerts in summer add to the magic of the place.
