The pride of the city, this cathedral saw the coronation of the first five Polish kings and has been destroyed countless times. The richly decorated interior houses the sarcophagus of St. Adalbert, Poland's first patron saint, as well as the statue of Cardinal Wyszyński, a native of the city. The cathedral's treasure is its bronze doors, dating from the second half of the 12th century and among Poland's greatest Romanesque masterpieces. They illustrate the life of Saint Adalbert in 18 paintings.
