The "English House" (Dom Anielski in Polish) is one of Gdańsk's most imposing bourgeois buildings. Built between 1568 and 1570 in Renaissance style, it was designed by Hans Kramer of Dresden, commissioned by the merchant Dirk Lylge. Occupying two adjacent plots of land, it boasts an impressive façade, richly decorated and measuring 15.5 m wide by 30 m high. The building is crowned by four gables and a slender turret, with a cupola and decorative spire. It has eight storeys.
