HOTEL OF THE BROTHERHOOD OF SAINT-GEORGES

This building, constructed between 1487 and 1497 for a military brotherhood, doesn't have the austere appearance often associated with soldier monks. On the contrary, it was built as a superb Gothic palace, and is now the headquarters of the Association of Polish Architects. It is surmounted by a copy of the statue of St. George slaying the dragon, the original of which, dating from 1556, is preserved in the National Museum. It is located next to the Porte Dorée.
