ATTIC ISLAND
From the 13th century onwards, a district of warehouses began to spring up in front of the main town, on the island of Wyspa Spichrzów. By the 14th century, there were over 200 of them, and their number has continued to grow ever since. According to the chronicles of the time, it was a fire in 1536 that destroyed almost 340 of them. In 1576, a moat was dug to prevent the spread of fires, turning the district into a near-island. Unfortunately, bombing during the Second World War turned l'Ile aux Greniers into a field of ruins, still visible today.
