The destroyer destroyer Błlyskawica(Eclair) was launched in 1936 to protect the Danzig corridor, the strip of land that gave the Polish state access to the sea. At 144 m long and ultramodern at the time, she was one of the fastest destroyers in the world. It survived the Second World War thanks to its retraction towards the UK during the Peking Plan, just before the outbreak of hostilities, and was used until 1969. It is now a museum.
