Rebuilt in neo-Gothic style in 1830 after its predecessor was destroyed in 1807 by Napoleon's troops, this building now houses the town hall, a cultural center and a modern art gallery. It is one of the few buildings to have survived the Second World War. Its architecture is remarkable, a city "castle" that resembles a medieval castle, with towers and gun battlements that are purely decorative and a reference to the city's military past. Today, it's a cherished landmark.

En 1828, il fut décidé de construire un nouvel hôtel de ville selon les plans de Karl Friedrich Schinkel. L'investissement, dont le coût total devait s'élever à 27 000 PLN. thalers, le bureau du roi Frédéric-Guillaume III en a alloué 20 000.
Les travaux de construction furent achevés le 30 mars 1831.
En 1912, la reconstruction générale et l'aménagement intérieur commencent.
En avril 1945, la mairie s'est avérée être l'un des rares bâtiments de Kołobrzeg à avoir échappé aux dommages causés par la bataille pour la ville.
