BARBAKAN
Krakow's Barbican is part of the city's medieval fortifications and one of the few surviving examples of its style in Europe. It was built between 1498 and 1499 in the Gothic style. Visitors can admire its thick, perforated walls, once used for artillery. The Barbacane is surrounded by a moat and was connected to the Porte Saint-Florian by a wall called "le col". In the 16th century, it housed the municipal stables. Today, it is open to visitors and offers guided tours of its history and architecture. For lovers of medieval history, Krakow's Barbican is a must-see during your stay in the city.
