An ancient pagan festival to celebrate the arrival of spring, now a medieval fair on the hills of Krakow.
This festival takes place at the foot of the Krakus mound, and has its roots in ancient pagan customs. A whole village of medieval tents is built for the occasion, with a mix of actors and local enthusiasts in fancy dress. A host of stalls offer traditional cuisine, handicrafts and entertainment ranging from juggling to medieval torture tables. The day's program includes tournaments, armored soldier races and medieval battle re-enactments. Contact the National Museum in Krakow.
