Located between the steel mill and Mogiła, this mound was probably built in the 8th century. It is connected with the legend of Princess Wanda, daughter of King Krak. According to the legend, the German prince Rytgier threatened to attack Kraków if she refused to become his wife. Wanda chose to throw herself into the Vistula River rather than give in, thus becoming a symbol of national independence. At the top of the mound stands a monument designed by the painter Jan Matejko.
