CATHEDRAL ST. JACQUES

This beautiful red brick cathedral built from 1350 in the late Gothic style is a very beautiful realization of the German backsteingotik architectural style. This is not surprising, considering that the region belonged to the Teutonic Order at the time. Remodeled several times, its sober but very elegant and impressive interior is worth a visit. Unfortunately, the original woodwork and furniture were destroyed during the Napoleonic wars: the French interned 1,500 Russian prisoners who lacked firewood.
