BURKHA SANCTUARY
Dating from the mid-15th century, this beautifully decorated wooden church in the south of the town, not far from the old Catholic cemetery, is typical of the Carpathian building style that inspired Zakopane's architecture. Dating back to 1440, it features a painting of the Virgin Mary to which several miracles are attributed, and the ceiling with its floral motifs and remnants of the original wall paintings is quite exceptional and in itself justifies a detour. Take the opportunity to visit the Sanguszko Chapel in the old cemetery.
