Lubomirski Castle dates back to the late 16th century and was built by the architect Tylman van Gameren. Although the building has undergone many changes since its construction, the entrance tower and bastions have remained intact. The six-storey gate tower rises to 55 meters and dominates the city. Until 1981, it was used as a prison, notably for political prisoners of the Communist regime. After extensive renovation work, it now houses the city's court of justice, symbolizing better days.
