This is the former colonial penitentiary, built in the early 20th century and closed in 1957. In a large courtyard surrounded by high walls, you will see the old cell buildings, which have recently been restored. A plaque and a gate now mark the entrance to the place. You will have to ask the guard for access. A plaque was put up in 2005 to commemorate the Franco-British pact that was sealed here in 1904. Nowadays, the old penitentiary is maintained and cleaned by the villagers. A place to discover for its history!
